Monthly Payment Formula
M = P × [r(1+r)^n] / [(1+r)^n − 1]
M = monthly payment
P = loan principal
r = monthly rate (APR ÷ 12)
n = total payments
Worked Example
$25,000 at 7.5% APR for 5 years: r = 0.075÷12 = 0.00625, n = 60. M = 25000 × [0.00625 × (1.00625)^60] ÷ [(1.00625)^60 − 1] = $500.47/month. Total interest: $5,028. Total cost: $30,028.
